It Feels Darn Good To Make a Difference!

Sometimes folks just need a hand up. Thanks to the financial support of donors like you, the Arkansas Climate League is there to lend a hand. We first met Daniel in May when the Climate League's Tara McDaniel and Jerminic Knauls visited a local food pantry to talk with area residents about utility bill and energy efficiency resources. Daniel, who is adjusting to life as a single father, was there to pick up some provisions for his two energetic grade schoolers. He recently started a new job after making a career transition, but was waiting on his first paycheck.

Our volunteers talked with him about Fort Smith's Project Concern (water bill assistance) and the Weatherization Assistance Program offered locally via the Crawford Sebastian Community Development Council. He took a free printed application for Project Concern, along with information about contacting our team for help completing the process.

A week later, Daniel called and spoke with Arkansas Climate League Assistance Administrator, Tara McDaniel. He had moved into a a new home and asked for help getting his water service turned on through Project Concern. Tara contacted the local water department to explore the possibility and helped Daniel navigate the steps to get his water service reconnected. Once his water was turned on, Tara helped him fill it out his Project Concern application for monthly bill reductions, made copies of his recent pay stubs, and submitted the completed application to the water department on his behalf to help expedite the process.

Water on for a family of three. Application submitted for a 50% monthly water bill reduction.

That feels good. Be part of our team making life better. Donate today.
